Fin decided to give this Criterium ago as it is not that far to travel.  The circuit was closed, in a safe area and on smooth tarmac.  The weather was a bit unkind with heavy rain.  Fin was in the U12 race and set off on a parade lap before a rolling start, which was very exciting.  When the whistle went they were off on to a serious race, with 3 children, Fin included immediately getting into a breakaway group.  They worked well for several laps, when Fin went to the front and applied a little pressure, which dropped one of the riders but the other doggedly stuck in.  They were down to 2 but took turns setting the pace but as the laps rolled by they slowed slightly thinking of a big effort for the finish allowing the third rider to latch on.  It was down to the last lap and all 3 were together.  On the slight incline Fin again went to the front and put some effort in, dropping the third place rider.  With 100m to go the first 2 were together with Fin slightly in second and both in full sprint for the line.  The metres passed by and Fin shot passed the other rider to win by over a bike length.  We stayed to watch the other age groups which was great.  It was well worth the trip there and hopefully there will be more events like this.

Just a reminder to all of our members in the club that we have our own buy and sell site ONEBAY.

As the weather improves (well Ok it’s rubbish again) we are all starting to think about the new season.

So please use ONEBAY to sell sports kit and to advertise for ‘wanted’ items too.

Contact myself Susanbell2@btinternet.com and I shall put your items on the site or display your request.

Happy shopping/exchanging

I have earned the club 62p!

Buying stuff via easyfundraising is a piece of cake.  Register yourself and onelife as your good cause and then log in to their site and ‘click through’ to the shopping site you want.

Thank you to all those people who voted for me to get the ‘true grit’ award last night. I am proud and humbled, thanks to everyone who has encouraged me to continue in triathlon from coaches and to other athletes in the club (and other clubs!!). But there is one person to whom I give the biggest thanks, because without her friendship encouragement and friendly rivalry I would not even enter a race, let alone make the effort to train and focus. BIG thanks to ROSE TODHUNTER, here’s to next season.
Merry Christams to all and good wishes for the New Year.

Meeting 9am Wentworth unless weather is really, really bad. Going up and around Hexham- Warden- Fourstones- Haydon Bridge-Langley- back down to Hexham est 1.5 – 2hrs.
Bring a snack, whatever food you might have in a race and wrap it in a way that can be easily accessed on the go (unlike my slice of cake in a zip-lock bag, impossible to open!) we can practice re-fueling on the go!
Marianne

there is a group cycle on Friday 8.45am from Wentworth a quick blast round the Bywell loop, suitable for intermediate level adult riders but its not a coached session. Marianne
