Nottingham Relays – from Brendon Jackson

The National Relay Championships are scheduled for 25/26 August at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham. It is for everyone, so just ignore that it is the National Championship. It would be great if even more teams from One Life are entered this year and so we need you. The mixed teams are on Saturday AM, women on Saturday PM and men on Sunday AM. For those who would like to be in a more competitive team, please indicate so accordingly. I know that we have a Ladies Veteran 40 team who are defending champions and the possibility of Mens Vet 40 and Vet 50, but there are plenty others to make up other teams. The idea is to mix up the teams so that we end up with our own little in-house competition. In essence the teams in total are of similar ability. Once I have a list of those interested, then the allocation to a team will be made. Each team will have a team captain who will take responsibility of entry etc and the fun part – race order and strategy. Ask those who took part last year in the Mens section – it come down to the run to separate the teams. Everyone does a swim (500m) in relay, then bike (15km) in relay, then run (5km) in relay. Its massive fun especially with the in-house competition. So don’t hesitate and delay – put you name down and let us have your non refundable deposit of £10 by 30 April – do not wait till then though. Please contact Brendon via hogsback@hotmail.co.uk.

British Duathlon Championships – from Brendon Jackson

Claire Jackson particiapted in the Dambuster Duathlon at Rutland Water which served as the British Duathlon Championships and also a qualifier for the ITU World Duathlon Championships. Claire came home as British Champion, taking gold by just 10 seconds in a very hard and competitive race. Full results are HERE

Speedo Open Water Swim Day – from Michelle Scott

Triathlon England are hosting a open water training session at Talkin Tarn Country Park, Cumbria on the 2^nd June.  Price is £20 per person.

The course will offer:

• Expert coaching to either:-
  • Introduce you to the key skills of open water swimming.
  • Cover advanced skills for the superior race day.
• Theory session with Q&A.
• Free use of a Speedo wetsuit.
• Support from Triathlon England staff, coaches and volunteers.

Sessions: Novice – 1100 – 1230 Advanced – 1330 – 1500
