Forest Cycling: Sunday 21st May at Chopwell Woods

Forest Cycling (Spring and Summer 2017)

We are continuing a series of off-road bike rides (including some coaching) using forest trails and similar routes in the Hexham area.

This is targeted especially at Tri-starts and T1s but is open to all.
It will start using relatively easy trails in Slaley forest and will progress to further develop cycling skills appropriate to the riders involved. Other local venues may be used for some rides.

Bikes: mountain bike, cyclo-cross or hybrid (NOT suitable for road bikes/tyres)
Correctly fitting helmets and suitable clothing to be worn (note that the ride locations may be several degrees colder than the Tyne valley!)
Children to be accompanied by nominated adults.

Time:
Saturday or Sunday afternoons, meeting at 1:30pm for a 1:45pm start. Plan to end at 3pm. Last few rides continued until 3:30 but there will be the opportunity to cut short, if you prefer!

Dates:
Next ride is on SUNDAY 21st May

Venue:
Location of next event is Chopwell Woods. Meet at the main car park in the wood. Access from B6315 at High Spen.  It’s sign posted from the entrance in High Spen village. For more information look here.

Ride details provided by Keith Siddle: ‘Chopwell woods is on a hillside so we have tried to pick steady gradients up and down.  Basic loop isn’t too long due to the amount of uphill but the trail surface is generally excellent, hard forest track.  Plenty of options to ride extra bits and/or single track (maybe for those more capable riders).’

Please let me know if you plan to come or if you need more information.
