The Club was established in 2004 by a small group of enthusiastic athletes, and is a friendly, non-profit making organisation dedicated to encouraging junior and senior members alike to enjoy the exciting sport of triathlon.
Sanctioned by British Triathlon, One Life Racing Triathlon Club is run by the members with an elected committee who organise structured training sessions for all abilities with a simple aim of creating a friendly and welcoming environment to train, socialise and compete in. We have an excellent training programme which helps both novice and experienced triathletes reach their goals and ambitions.
We cater for all ages, from the youngest junior (age 7+) to the super vintage (80+), from those simply wishing to have fun and keep fit, to athletes who compete nationally and internationally. We have an enviable reputation as a club for success at competitions such as the National Club Relays, and many of our athletes have represented Great Britain at National, European and World championships.
We encourage parents/carers of junior members to be as involved as possible and many have subsequently taken up the sport themselves.
We believe in forging strong links with other clubs and organisations to enable us specifically to target areas of expertise within the accumulative disciplines of swimming, cycling and running. Our members are often also members of Tynedale Harriers and Tynedale Amateur Swimming Club, as well as local cycling clubs such as Allen Valley Velo and Derwentside CC, and take part in events such as Go Ride, organised by British Cycling. Together we are able to provide a more comprehensive programme of activities for the benefit or our members.
We meet at Hexham’s Wentworth Leisure Centre for most of our coached sessions, but some activities take place elsewhere locally.
