During cycling sessions we cover bike handling skills and techniques, safety issues and also work on speed.

Cycling sessions for juniors take place in a safe, off-road, contained area. Under 12s are never taken onto the public highway. Road riding in groups is introduced for older juniors and adults tend to meet informally for group rides.

Transition practice is also covered during these sessions. Our athletes are often also members of local cycling clubs such as Allen Valley Velo and Derwentside Cycle Club.

Kit Required

  • bike
  • helmet (compulsory – no hat, no ride)
  • training shoes or cycling shoes if using specialist pedals
  • gloves
  • warm clothes in thin layers, including a windproof outer layer
  • drink
