Awards night & 15th Birthday Party

The club’s annual awards night was held on the 12th January. The event also marked the 15th year of the club so doubled up as a birthday celebration as well. In the past 15 years the club has had some significant successes at both national and international competitions. Over the standard distance, the club’s most successful athlete, Barry Jameson, has taken home a hatful of medals. These include a World Championship gold in 2008, European gold in 2009 & 2013 and many other bronze & silver medals. Other international successes include Rob West’s silver medal in 2010 and Alan Copeland’s bronze medal in 2008 both at the European Championships.

Over the past 15 years the club has had some significant successes at both national and international competitions. Other international successes include Rob West’s silver medal in 2010 and Alan Copeland’s bronze medal in 2008 both at the European Championships.

At the sprint distance, highlights include European Championship gold medals for Jan Oliver in 2010 & Claire Jackson in 2011 with James Dickinson (2010) and Hannah Pinkney (2016) also winning European silver medals.

At a national level the club has regularly produced national age group champions at both sprint and standard distances. These include Alan Copeland, Rob West, Claire Jackson, Tim Wylie and Barry Jameson.

At a junior level a number of club members have been selected for the Great Britain Age Group Team: Mark Todhunter (2013); Fergus Robinson (2014); Alistair Maxwell (2014 &15); Hannah Pinkney (2016); Toby Routledge (2014); Sean Wylie (2014); Freya Murphy (217); Ellie Bluck (2017) and Paddy Lally (2017) as well as for the North East Regional Team.

In 2018 club members saw success at all levels of competition with highlights being a gold medal for Claire Jackson (F55-59) and silver medal for Mike Little (M50-54) both at the British Triathlon Sprint Championships. Mike Little followed this up with bronze (M50-55) at the Triathlon England National Championships 70.3 alongside Tim Wylie who also gained bronze in his age category (M55-59).  At a junior level Tabitha Robson gained bronze medal at T1 level at the Regional Junior Grand Prix
